For those that need to hear it, confederate soldiers weren’t heroes

    1. Uh huh and why were their homes being invaded again? I’m sure it’s because they stood up for some noble cause and not because they were dedicated to preserving the most evil institution in history or anything like that

    2. The Vietcong were heroes who fought to protect their homes and families from foreign invasion.

Don’t think they’d take too kindly to my statement.

    3. It was a war to remain independent so they could continue to exploit and abuse an entire race of people for their own benefit. It’s absolutely nothing to be proud of. That flag is just another horrible symbol of hate. Just like the flag of Nazi Germany. It’s no wonder why so many of these good old boys are also Hitler loving Nazis.

Absolute rewriting of history. It was a bunch of traitors mad they couldn’t own slaves. And that their profits would dip if they had to actually pay anyone to work the fields or do the house labor or whatever.

They were traitors that murdered thousands of Americans. Not opinion, not subjective, just facts.

    6. They literally outnumbered themselves with black people. They forced them to come here. Normally those type of people call that an invasion or a great replacement and they’ll blame liberal immigration policy. But those mother fuckers were so racist, they just couldn’t conceive of the possibility that those black people could ever be considered people with rights equal to theirs.

      They got theirs good.

Great replacement is the new lost cause.

    7. Just read the declarations of secession from the Confederate states. They state very clearly that the cause for the Civil War was slavery. And that’s in the secessionists own words.

Y’know, I believe that is what many of them believed. That’s why the idea has persisted that it wasn’t about slavery, because for many if not most of the individual soldiers, it wasn’t. But the elites who represented them and caused the war did so to explicitly to preserve the institution of slavery and their own political/economic interests, ironically by forcing newly formed states to become slave states regardless of the will of their people.

So in a way it was about states’ rights… The right of new states to not be formed as slave states.

No it was a civil war. The majority of Confederate soldiers were not natives, so no it wasn’t a war for independence. It was some rich assholes who were afraid of consequences and change.

It was racists fighting for their “right” to own people. To deprive others of rights for economic gain.

    11. Literally written in the articles of succession

They left the union because they didn’t even want the risk of losing their slaves

Invasion? The Confederates fired the first shot!

And they left because the duly elected President happened to not like slavery.

    13. They lost and should left in the past. If your heritage is the confederacy, you should be able to acknowledge they lost against the united states, and were enemies of the country you claim to love. Because they were invaded by the United States of America and lost to the United States of America, that’s why you are an American and not a confederate.

    14. They declared war on United States.

Fired first shots at Fort Sumter.

Promptly invaded United States, killing American troops on our own soil.

Worst enemy our country ever had.

And if they try to say it was not about slavery, read the confederate constitution. Mentioned like 6 times in the first paragraph.

    15. The men who fought for Confederacy are the proto-MAGA.

People who fought/vote against their own best interests.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve read today, and that’s really saying something given our current administration
