If I was having a bourbon night with my buddies I’d definitely buy those. I have the sphere ice maker things, but they never turn out right.

    2. The economy is horrible and I can’t afford groceries… ooooo, fancy ice! I really doubt the rich are in the supermarket buying these things.

    3. At least totally clear ice does take processing. It’s hard to do at home. But a silly product to spend money on

The only context I can think of for this product is a Frozen themed birthday party.

    5. It’s so easy to make clear ice blocks at home, just freeze a insulated plastic cooler full of water. Then saw the block into squares and rectangles. All you need is freezer space

      Good ice matters.

That doesn’t look like a freezer shelf but I guess it is, I get clear ice being hard to do but what makes them slow melting?

    8. I thought it was a silly gimmick that my new fridge made “craft ice” but it really does last longer and water your drink down less

    9. This is the kind of capitalism nerds on the internet are talking about when they argue in favor of capitalism. Totally superfluous, unnecessary product that will attract a certain userbase and priced commensurately.

      I approve.

    10. I won’t claim they’re worth the money, but they do look nice and melt very slowly.

You can get a mold and make your own, but the ones which actually work (in the sense that they produce ice that is clear) take up a stupid amount of space for the number of cubes produced, take 18-22 hours, and become a real pain in the ass to de-mold if you let them freeze too long.

    11. Can’t you make this at home by just boiling the water beforehand?

Edit: No, that won’t work. But if you put water in a tumbler and freeze it, this is a cheap way to achieve directional freezing. You then (carefully) carve off the cloudy portion.

For $10 bucks more you can get one of those novelty ice cubes with the fake fly in them

    13. I once saw a video about a dude who delivers “premium” ice to high class bars in New York. Looked like his business was working for him because I remember the prices being even higher than this.

His ice was actually pretty special because it was crystal clear due to some process I can’t remember right know (maybe someone knows how it’s done). Maybe this is also the case here. Or someone just makes a pretty penny from some cheap temu ice shapes here 😅

    14. Organic, gluten free, keto-friendly, vegan, non-gmo, ethically sourced, and bespoke, hand crafted ice cubes

    15. There was a program on TV a few years ago that had Newfoundland folks harvesting burg ice. I assume it sold for a premium.

    16. This ice cubes are actually expensive even for bars. Bars pay like a dollar per big clear ice cube. These actually are not that much more expensive than what they are paying.
