I can dare easily:) for example a man who born without father is a common presentation at least 10 religions.

It’s because of everytime people going same direction and it’s most clear way the situation.

People forget how much of their life is based on faith rather than objectivity. I wish people could look past themselves to try and understand where someone else is coming from rather than try to apply the scientific method to every moment of the day.

    3. They thought the same thing about Jesus and His disciples. Just kill and destroy them and their faith will die like all the other wannabe messiahs before Him, and yet that’s not what happened. His death and resurrection lit a fire in the disciples that spread Jesus salvation and love to the world. Those disciples almost to a man were all martyred, and their message spread even further. People, including myself, have continued throughout time to discover God is alive and working in the world and in our lives! The Bible is alive and can speak to you today! I promise!!

What is this ridiculous trend of putting music over the top of every video? Just listen to what’s being said. I don’t need or want a Hans Zimmer score on everything.

While I do agree with him, he is not right about the return of the religion book. Most religious books have the same template, a God, a Messiah, a calamity, commandments or teachings on how to live your life. The basic structure of most religious teachings remains the same.

So how does Ricky explain all kinds of civilizations, all having the same stories of a great flood, seeing the same things. But they’re too far apart for any kind of travel back then?

This guy has become a clown since then, crying about how everyone wants to cancel him

Well if you take it literally, and you burn the books of a certain religion, their followers will have increased faith, because they will think what they believe in is gonna be taken away, so maybe they’ll try to rewrite the books as they remember, and will ask their descendants to do so.

So it will actually be rewritten with bias, potentially by people who will try to gain something from it, like the Holy Bible has been kind of “hijacked” by the authorities at the Nicea council, which resulted in the emperor having more power on the church, and so on…

oh religion is a bunch of phonybaloney nonsense? wow, very prescient it took much courage to say that.

Both Stephen Hawking and Neil Degrasse Tyson, and probably others, have said that science is just observation. I think a lot of people don’t see it that way.

The other one that blew mind mind, I think Neil Degrasse Tyson or Brian Cox said, that math is just observation as well. Crazy

    11. This is silly and I am surprised people think it is a good argument for anything. Yes, somethings that we believe in are more axiomatic than others. This means nothing more than we have different categories of things that we believe to be true. The beliefs that 2+2=4 and that it is morally wrong to murder are both as justified even though the former is true for all living beings and for all time and the latter is not. Religious texts are influenced by history and culture so of course the texts would be different if the environment was different.

And yet convincing believers in religion is damned near impossible.

      🤷‍♀️

I think trying to talk about something that is so beyond words, whist only being able to use words is dumb, let alone talking so matter of fact about it, when you’ve used a base human brain using human logic, to convince yourself either way.

      Edit: Spelling

    14. Does Ricky Gervais have a take on religion? I never would have known. How would I have ever learned that?

    15. My favorite: In 30 million years dogs will rule the earth and their science will be identical to ours, but they will worship mythical two-legged creatures that fed them and created the diverse breeds.

    16. Back when Ricky used to punch up at religion instead of punching down at Trans women for no particular reason.

    17. BuildwithVignesh on

Ricky always manages to make a deep point sound like a casual joke. That’s his real skill.

    18. SquareHunter5648 on

I know this is an old clip, but Stephen Colbert lecturing anyone about anything is a joke. Him saying “you’re accepting that bcos someone told you” is a perfect example of a pot calling a kettle black.

    19. The argument doesn’t work. The results of scientific experiments will always be the same, e=mc2, laws if motion, etc.

The results of religion is also always the same, suffering, oppression and murdering of infidels, etc.

    20. DiDiPlaysGames on

Ricky is a rotten human being and nothing he says should be taken as anything other than him sucking himself off. I guarantee you he jacks it to memories of this monologue. God I hate that man.

    21. Oh shit, the Interstellar music. I’m about to hear some deep existential enlightened ass shit.

    22. Unless your Mormon, in which case you say that the word has changed because you dared destroy it the first time.

    23. BrianScottGregory on

He doesn’t understand how much scientific facts change over such incredibly short periods of time.

The history of the world is weird.

    24. Express-Ad-4342 on

Science has proven that there is a creator. But “science” isn’t having that…

    25. Science is not faith because it works. It is demonstrated every day by reality.

To paraphrase others: airplanes fly, cars drive, computers compute, drugs cure diseases, glasses correct vision, planets revolve, chemistry and physics make real materials that do real work, and math underlies and confirms all of the above.

That’s not faith, it’s observing, measuring, and knowing.

    26. Most people in my country are atheists or agnostics. Feels good man. When you don’t grow up with that crap there’s really no reason for a modern person to believe in it.

Religious people really wanna take the word of some dudes from thousands of years ago… They genuinely think they were wiser and knew more? It’s bonkers.

    27. I don’t care about religion one way or the other, I’m just here to say I can’t fucking stand Gervais
