The [Beast of Gevaudan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beast_of_G%C3%A9vaudan) was a strange creature that attacked and killed several people in southern France between 1764 and 1767. The beast was said to be dark brown with a striped back and a long tail, and was the size of a calf. Some estimates suggest the beast killed over 100 people, and King Louis XV sent his personal hunters to track down and kill the creature. To this day, nobody is quite sure what the beast was. Theories range from an especially bloodthirsty and large wolf to an escaped hyena, but the most likely culprit was a particularly vicious Italian Wolf. The Beast is considered one of the first modern “cryptids” and has become a symbol for the region to this day, as well as inspiring some interpretations of the Werewolf.
Unrelated but Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is a heckin good movie ( it’s where the template was taken )

I think it was a mix between a shepherd dog and a wolf. It ate the corpse left by war, developed some taste, learn the locals pattern and used it to attack vulnerable people

Wolf in classic literature: “Haha, I’ll eat your grandma.”

History class never taught us the cool stuff.
They made a movie about the Beast of Gévaudan in 2001 called Le Pacte des Loups (The Brotherhood of the Wolf in English) which is a sort of period action horror flick.
