I’m guessing high voltage under partial vacuum, similar to the little globes you get at the store?
Curious if you’re also using a heated tungsten coil for thermionic emission (like a cathode ray tube), but that little coiled globe in the center looks like just straight up copper, so my guess is tesla coil?

I would like a dad like that, also a basement like that… and a plasma like that too

Hopefully he’s extremely smart and not just very smart. It turns out that high voltages under vacuum is a good way to make xrays too…

I tried that with a grape in the microwave once. I just ended up with the world’s worst raisin.

Take a green grape. Cut it in half but leave the halves attached (sort of looks like 2 green boobs). Put it on a plate in a microwave oven on high power. Voila…you have the fourth state of matter! Try it at home, kids!! Source: I’m an old science teacher versed in the art of the 90’s demos

Fun fact, all you need is a jar, a match, and a microwave to make some plasma…
