    1. Oh that is interesting! Like bagged milk. I wonder if it lasts longer than normal bagged rice? Or how long it would last if bagged in a nitrogen atmosphere then vacuum sealed and refrigerated? Probably decades

    2. Works for the one time before it’s open. It should be sold in a vacuum sealer bag where you can remove the air after you get your portion out.

    5. there is a class of robotic gripper that utilize this grain locking mechanism to grasp thing with minimum actuator.
      the robot arm is basically a bag of rice, once it conform to the gripped object, you suction out the air. so the rice grain interlock with each other forming a hard grasp. No need to add sensor or feed back force control to make sure you dont crush the object or let it slip. Just put a rice bag over it and vacuum it up.
