Just put him in jail where he belongs. This level of corruption I lay directly at the feet of this useless congress for doing absolutely nothing!

    2. This dude’s brain is going to be soup sloshing around in his skull in a couple years. They need him as an idol to keep his cult on board.

This is one thing (I might be naive) that the SC will resoundingly reject. No ifs, ands, or buts you cannot run/serve a third term.

The real question is enforcement, who is going to enforce the ruling?

    4. If all they’re going to do is try an amendment then I’m not really concerned because they’re not going to get 3/4 of the states to ratify it.

    5. Ok_Kaleidoscope3644 on

Weird that they’re already citing “unfinished business” when he’s not even a quarter of the way through his term. What are you waiting for? Get businessing!

    6. I’m all for it. He will get destroyed by this man running for a 3rd term.

    7. Why put this kind of energy into a man who will clearly be dead from natural causes by then?

    8. The plan is a constitutional amendment. It wouldn’t have been ratified before and it definitely won’t get ratified now.

    9. They don’t have the votes in Congress or in the states to pass a constitutional amendment

    10. Realistic-Potato-474 on

Practically speaking, the move here needs to be at the state level to legislate the 22nd Amendment to prohibit anyone appearing on the ballot for president who has already served 10 years or two terms. SCOTUS may fold & say he can run, but it’s tough to get votes if your name isn’t on the ballot.

Consul for a third time in a row? Surely Caesar only has the Republic’s best interests at heart.

ughh this can’t be fucking serious. who will save us from this insanity. will any other country step in 😭

    13. Its so ironic that conservatives were the ones that pushed the 22nd amendmen after fdr. The biggest hypocrits imaginable

    14. Leave Trump alone. (Hear me out).

      Focus on the congressmen.

Our frustration and anger at Trump does nothing. He is above the law and will cheat any future elections. But congressmen are not.

IF we are to ever get our country back, it won’t be by convincing Trump to do the right thing. It will be by getting our congressmen to do their job. Obviously they’re equally corrupt, but since they’re not 80 then they have a desire to continue their power.

MTG and Massie may be terrible people, but they see the future beyond Trump and are at least making a stand on some things. So if people pressure their congressmen then maybe we just avoid all this 2028 nonsense and move on to the next ridiculous problem.

    15. Not going to happen, we passed an amendment to stop this after we had a president in his 4th term.

    16. Good luck getting 38 out of 50 states to ratify that nonsense. I don’t think MAGA understands how the Constitution works.

      >”…citing historical examples like Franklin Delano Roosevelt…”

That’s because prior to the 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, it was a tradition and not codified as a fundamental requirement of the presidency. Whether they like it or not, it is now a law of the land that they’d just choose to bypass, like so much else. In fact, Roosevelt was the reason they initiated the 22nd Amendment after he died during his 4th term. The amendment was proposed in 1947 and ratified by the last state in 1951 – four years later.

And citing Victor Orban is not exactly a great example. Why don’t they cite folks like Hugo Chavez?

They are happy to point to Venezuela as a dictatorship while emulating it. Chavez pushed a referendum through in 2009 to eliminate presidential term limits as he was approaching the end of his second term. He was into his third term when cancer gave him the ultimate term limitation, otherwise he’d still be “president” today instead of his handpicked crony Maduro.

    18. Their leader threw a tantrum because of being rebuffed by their original leader’s comments on tariffs… “I don’t care, I’m not speaking to him (Canadian PM) for a while.”

And yes, Reaganomics create the Trumpism of today.

They will never get a Constitutional Amendment passed. That is laughable. They have nowhere near enough states to get that done.

    20. Ok-Scallion-3415 on

I mean, they’re just going to do a 3rd term regardless of what the constitution says and we’re just gonna let them. Congressional Dems will write a strongly worded letter. Susan Collins will be concerned. And we (the poors, ie anyone not in the 1%) will just get continually punched in the privates for as long as Trump is alive.

Who is going to stop them? Police seem to love Trump. National Guard from red states had no issues invading blue states. Military had no issue invading Cali. We’re kinda fucked at this point.

My fellow Americans, welcome to Russia 2.0

      A constitutional amendment isn’t happening.

A more likely attempt at a work around is having Trump run as VP (if the courts allow it), or being named Speaker of the House and having resignations get him back into office.

Or, he might just run and stick his middle finger up at the law, as he usually does.

    22. The issue is one major point they can’t over come, they need 3/4 of states to ratify the amendment, they can’t rig that part and no fucking chance will they capture 38 states

    23. Private_HughMan on

Just a few months ago, every conservative pundit was saying that we were being alarmist. That in 4 years, Trump will peacefully cede power and someone elsewill take his place. That we were being alarmist conspiracy theorists for thinking he wanted to overstay his tenure, even though Trump “joked” about it a *lot.* And in a few more months, they’ll be saying it’ only natural to want another term and we’re crazy for objecting to it. It’s not a dictatorship. It’s all fine. Then, it’ll be “it’s a dictatorship but that’s okay ecause he’s a good dictator.”

Trump doesn’t “joke” about this stuff. He “jokes” about it the same way that one weird friend “jokes” about how weird it would be if you both had sex, but you’d totally never do it. But it would be funny if you did. You won’t, but you could. He’s got some condoms on him. Not for you. He just always has them. But it could be for you. but it’s not.

Except with Trump it’s worse because he won’t care if you don’t consent.

Can they not be imaginative or original at all???Really the ‘Third Term’, sounds awfully close to ‘Third Riech’…

    25. I figured at some point they’d claim this is really another first term since he didn’t serve two consecutive terms.

I don’t think the Trump 2028 hats were really subtle in the first place

Release the Epstein files, Trump is a treasonous pedophile.
