I mean this is accurate but not for the reason you think.
I decline sedation because they basically give you a form of nitrous oxide instead and it’s pretty damn euphoric. The colonoscopy itself? It’s neither pleasurable nor painful. The scope is quite thin and it just feels like pooping backwards. Plus you don’t lose the day to feeling groggy and tired. You’re back to normal within about fifteen minutes and out of the hospital way faster.
