Sugarcane straws are objectively the best for biodegradable straws. They also seem to hold up better than paper.

PLA plastic is made from corn. So this makes sense.

It blows my mind that plastic straws and grocery bags are still a thing in the USA. I haven’t seen a plastic grocery bag/ a plastic straw in 15 years

I use these exclusively for my cocktails at my home bar. Bought them in bulk like a year ago.

Anything but paper, feels like sucking a book’s dick.

Interesting, I had a sampler of 50 avocado composit straws [from the seeds inside after extracting the oil I believe?] worked reasonably well for cold drinks, got sort of soft in hot coffee after a while.
I have no problem with bamboo/compressed or formatted organic waste items, I had a set of bamboo plates, bowls and spoon/fork/knife that we got from Amazon a few years back for taking camping that worked out well [just expensive for daily use]

It’s amazing all these “inventions” to replace plastic. Before plastic was introduced drinking straws were made of **straw**…
I’ve had tapioca straws before that work well
I’ve bought some of these in Taiwan. They’re great! Last through several drinks, even. I’d rinse mine and let them dry so I could use them, again.
Canadian here — man do I miss plastic straws.
Reminds me of all the times I used a twizzler as a straw as a kid.

I have straws made out of sea shells, lol.
I like tools I can eat
These are so much better than paper straws
I feel like these are the nicest alternatives to plastic straws that I’ve ever tried!
The only plastic straw replacement I actually like is bamboo because it actually holds up for more than 10 seconds and doesn’t collapse.
Whenever I read the word sugarcane. This [song](https://youtu.be/eo4wTUYGkyE?si=wb8shRVRwx3y5eXI) pops in my head
