    1. “While the royal boy made very remarkable Progress in learning German and Latin early on, he would refuse the use of the french Language as an 8 year old. He would, so he told his Gouvernour, the old Lindschöld, learn french “and when i meet the King of France, i would speak french with him. Should he however send his envoy, i would prefer if he would speak swedish with me, because i value my own language as much as he does his.” (Bengston, 15)

Without a Doubt an unusual Position for an 8 year old, perhaps ‘pointet’ by Lindschöld. And yet this reply documents first fruits of the education of the future absolute Ruler of Sweden.
Charles had learned to be more than a mere Envoy, even of the great France.

Charles would indeed listen carefully to speeches delivered in French, but to the horror of foregin Courtiers and Envoys, he would only answer in swedish or latin.”

This passage is quoted from the German book [Karl XII. von Schweden. Ein König, der zum Mythos wurde](https://amzn.eu/d/0ptFmMT) by Historian Jörg-Peter Findeisen

    2. It’s not really a good insult when you’re the reason for the fall of your own country’s Empire.

Meanwhile France got a Bourbon on the thrown of Spain.
