We abandoned the US the second the 51st state rhetoric bullshit began. We’re not buying American liquor (aside from Alberta), we’re avoiding American goods wherever possible, we’re not travelling to the US the way we did before, and we’re welcoming American brain drain when your doctors, nurses, and professionals inquire about leaving the US.
Our elbows are up, and while we hold no grudges against the individuals who aren’t responsible for this mess you’re in, we are holding it against the majority of Americans who either voted for this, or didn’t bother voting at all.
The relationship is over, and it’s going to take GENERATIONS of asskissing before Canadians will be willing to forgive but never forget.

The thing is that China is putting a lot economic pressure on Canada to open up closer business ties. So far Canada has resisted this, as the US is right next door and a long time economic partner, but that only gets so far. What’s Trump going to say when we start letting cheap Chinese cars into the country?

Wow, divorce talk. Good for Carney. He’s not gonna roll over for the orange bully. I don’t love everything about Carney but I do like having a national figurehead with a backbone. At least he’s a vertebrate, that’s a start.
