It’s not real art and I hate it unconditionally

    1. AI art feels like watching someone microwave a gourmet meal and call themselves a chef. The passion just isn’t there

    2. AI generated images/videos are not art in any way. I do believe that AI images can be used as concept ideas, reference point for someone to flesh out ideas to create actual art. AI images may also be useful for people to use in their private lives that do not have the means to create actual art or the funds to hire an artist but they should never be passed off as “art”.

Is it not real art? Yes. It’s an image generated by a prompt using a program. Should it be hated unconditionally? No, there are people who have their proper or personal uses for it. Calling it art would be incorrect, but saying that it is unconditionally bad is also incorrect.

    4. AI art feels like watching a machine hum while it steals the soul artists spent years learning to express

    5. This is not an unpopular opinion. But thing is, the majority of people consuming this generated garbage aren’t even really aware what they’re watching.

    6. lol this Reddit take is given at nauseam, so frequently posted. The reality is ai will be used to do things in animation like in between frames and story boarding and there’s literally nothing a Reddit post can do about it. Brave lukewarm take though

As an art student myself, I think as long as you’re not making money off of ai, it’s fine to play around with.

I think ethically it’s a complex topic as even using ai as reference material could be seen as stealing if it’s pulling from a public art images as reference.

Then there’s using ai for marketing and business purposes, that would be classed as making money off of it so again isn’t it just stealing ideas to make those business practices?

It’s a complex subject to try to tackle ethically but I do think there needs to be standardised rules on exploitation of ai for profit purposes.

    8. Wow what an ORIGINAL TAKE

Never read it before, you’re so BRAVE to say it out loud !!

It’s not like it has been reddit stance for months and there is similar post a hundred times a day on the low activity days

    9. AI art isn’t creativity, it’s copy and remix. The effort gap is why people still defend human-made work

If commissioning an ACTUAL artist for a piece of their work doesn’t make you an artist, finding the exact prompt needed to get an AI to spit out what you want doesn’t make you an artist either.
