My parents had one, which they used a lot. Damn thing scared the hell out of me as a kid. It felt like there was a time bomb on the stove and it hissed at me everytime I walked by.

Ugh. If I came home from school or playing and that thing was on the stove it meant we were having something I didn’t like for dinner. Mom still had it when she died 3 years ago and I happily added it to the yard sale collection.

We still have one of these. Surprisingly you can still get replacement parts from canning supply companies.

I bought one of these a few years ago (Presto brand) rather than an Insta-pot. I store it with my other pots, so it doesn’t take up counter space. For $25, it was a great buy.

It’s great for potatoes or other vegetables that take a long time! Also good for dried beans/lentils etc. which you don’t have to pre-soak that way.

A whole chicken gets tender quickly, too.
