      I can only assume this is why the Trump admin is giving billions to Argentina, to secure a safe haven to flee to when they lose the next elections.

      I’m from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I live near a very nice suburb here, called Ciudad Jardin, which is home to a lot of nazi descendants. It even has like two or three German schools (trilinguals schools, with Spanish, English and German), that still get money from Germany, for support.

      Served as a military attache to both the Fascists (learn mountain warfare tactics) and the Nazis. Had some very pro fascist elements in his movement. Was in exile in Francoist Spain for nearly two decades. It’s fair to say this is very expected.

      Oh! Let ’em in for money. Makes perfect sense. Remember the attitudes of most Westerners and Europeans toward Jews back then.

      Surely, here in Reddit, peeps have already posted about the FACT of widespread loathing of Jews in the US in the 30’s and 40’s. And 50’s.

      He went to Italy in the 20’s, met Benito Mussolini and learned everything about the implementation of fascism.

      Then came back to Argentina and took part in 2 military coups and the subsequent dictatorships.

      Then ruled for 10 years, implementing everything he’d learned in fascist Italy: heavy nationalism, control of media, censorship, indoctrination in schools and political prosecution.

      When his wife died, he got into a romantic relationship with a 14 year old girl when he was 58.

      He was deposed and lived in exile for 17 years in a castle in Spain.

      Then came back to Argentina, ruled for a bit and died, leaving the country in a state of civil war, where his right wing followers and his left wing followers killed each other.

      The fascism-inspired political party he founded is the one who ruled Argentina for the last 20 years. They ironically label whoever doesn’t agree with them as “fascists”.

      Not just Argentina, but Chile also. I was watching some jarring Documentary on HBO: Colonia Dignidad, and later on commented on it with our colleagues from Santiago who were visiting for a Conference- it turns out, it is still ( todavia) very much a thing in Chile. The prominent influence of German, read ex- Nazis descendents. Big Community with a big political impact, still..

      Although is true there is documented evidence that his government was involved in facilitating the entry of Nazis and collaborators of the Nazi regime into Argentina, and that passports or false identities were sold in some cases, the number 100.000 its very hard to prove.
