    1. Probably bc they’re potentially contaminated with biohazards (e.g., feces, blood, something from an infectious disease ward, etc.).

    2. They don’t want you to go outside and get germs all over your procedure room scrubs, and then go back into a sterile area. The blue scrubs are only worn in a clean zone. It’s a safety procedure.

So, if there’s a fire/evacuation, the workers have to change prior to leaving the hospital?

    4. I was at a medical facility with a poster showing about 12 different color codes for scrubs depending on the department or service.

    5. I mean, not seeing why this is infuriating? You don’t want to bring outside germs into a hospital, and vice versa. This should be common sense / knowledge.

Y’all, it’s been a long day and I’m on the wrong sub. 🤣💀

    6. My parents both worked at hospitals and staff would take scrubs home all the time because they are comfy.

Anything blue in the hospital means sterile. They don’t want you wearing surgery scrubs outside to avoid contamination.

    8. Not very interesting. Its usually standard safety procedure for both Post-Op, and pre-Op to not bring contamination in or out of the operating room.

Aaaaannnnnddddd you’ll see surg techs and OR nurses wearing them at the line at Starbucks or to pickup their food at the restaurant across from the hospital. OR scrubs and bonus shoes covers that should only be worn INSIDE THE OR. 🤦‍♂️

The hospital I work at has the same rule but enforcement is a fucking joke. The OR has a mandate like this to prevent as much lint and outside contaminants getting in to the OR and biohazard contaminants being carried out to the public.
