Context: George Washington was extremely opposed to political parties, believing they would undermine the foundation of the newfound United States and devolve into petty squabbles. Famously, he thought the president especially should be above political factions and the associated squabbling a and partisanship.
I can’t help but think he’d be extremely disappointed if he saw how heavily ingrained party politics have become in our modern government, and even culture.

Washington would demand another revolution if he saw the state of modern American politics

The country descended into political partisanship the minute he left office.

I mean, yes, the current party system is atrocious. But political parties formed literally Washington was still President. It was just the anti federalist and federalist parties rather than democrats and republicans

I hope that someday my fellow Americans will realize both political parties are just two sides of the same coin. They have had power in America since Washington stepped down and have been dividing and manipulating us for many many decades to make sure they STAY in power.
We need some new parties but the big 2 have such a monopoly it’s hard for any new party to break in/get sufficient funding I guess.

Washington hated parties, but his ideas heavily aligned with the federalist party.

I think if you told ol George that not only has America overtaken Britain in military capability, but that it also came and more or less saved Britain’s ass in the 1940s, his head would explode

Political partisanship isn’t a bad thing in itself

I mean, most of the Founding Fathers’ minds would probably melt if you dropped them off in 2025 Times Square without preparing them for the technological advances alone. It would be the equivalent of being on a magical alien planet. Their reaction to modern racial and cultural and gender norms would vary greatly by individual.
The only one who would adapt quickly would probably be Ben Franklin, who’d be fascinated and delighted by the technology and then become a Pornhub gooner once you showed him the internet.
