Quantum computing took a huge leap today ! “Quantum Echoes” ran an algorithm 13,000x faster.

Ive seen pictures of old rocket engines that were ultra complex and all pipes and shit, newer pics show much simpler looking things, i think in 30 years time stuff like this will be smaller and less complex too.

Neat to see this stage though.

    2. I look at this picture and I can’t help but wonder, how much of that is showing off, and how much is actually necessary?
For instance, those black tubes/cables. Do they need that S-shape, or is it just to make look cool? Why are those black things so long to begin with? What are those yellow disks for?

Edit: thanks all for the links and info!

13K faster *than* … what?? C’mon, write a headline that is better than. 🙂

    4. It better not be for the discrete logarithm problem. I just had a cryptography test I aced and don’t want it to become obsolete so soon

    5. Ummm… I’m pretty sure your picture only shows its cryogenic cooling system (basically the CPU cooler).

The actual computer should be a small box at the bottom where all the disconnected wires are, which is missing in the picture.

Cool.  Now have it figure out how to get universal healthcare in America, while dumping trump in the garbage.

    7. I don’t even know what I’m looking at lol. Are those fiber optic network cables to send and receive data for the quantum computer?

Good news! All of your passwords can now be brute forced and encryption is pointless!

And it wasn’t even hooked up to anything according to that pic. Just wait until it’s actually running!

pretty sure quantum computing has been debunked as not really useful and scientists have just been milking it for funding
