Counterpoint: having an exit plan is a good idea and being emotionally attuned with your partner is great thing. As an introvert that no longer drinks and can only do parties/gatherings for no more than an hour without a social lubricant this is exactly the kind of support I needed.
My ex knew about my anxiety and sobriety and we used to have a signal. I wasn’t a homebody and I’d go out with her, but we’d park on the street so we didn’t get blocked in. If we caught eyes across the room or did a little thing w our hands that nobody would notice, we’d get ready to go. If she wanted to go back out, cool. Go nuts, ima be home watching kung fu movies, anime or something. Catch ya when you get back home babe.

My version of this is just making eye contact and mouthing, “you ready?” and then I look toward the door. I feel like this kind of thing is pretty standard for long term relationships? Like the line is corny but this is a thing that happens.

Something like “you ready to go?” Is always asked *hours* after someone is ready to go 😭. I’ve seen it far too many times.

My wife and I do this all the time. She is in tune to my social battery, since I get overstimulated big time at events. I do the same for her at certain functions. It just depends how close you are to one another and if you got each other backs.

Me and my girl are actually really good about this, she more introverted and her energy immediately changes so it’s easy to notice

Bro typed that like he was trying to win a scholarship for Most Unnecessary Sentence of the Year.

Irish goodbyes are goated no more 30min leaving convos
“You starting to act bitchy, let’s go”
Even if someone knew me that well, they would’ve just noticed that I would’ve already disappeared by then
“I’ve had enough of seeing you shaking that fine ass with no consequences get in the car!”
