This is why I love the Dutch split. You pay for what you eat, and if you share an item you split that item’s price.

Bill comes, they want to pay half. Im like, no you ordered 2/3 of this stuff. What do you think splitting means? If it was a double date, sure, ill pay for my date you pay for yours. Im sure they thought i was being a cheapskate though.

I’m in my 40s, I have decades of experience going out to eat with friends, family, and co-workers, and not once has anyone every suggested splitting the bill evenly.

We always just pay for ourselves. I pay from what I get, they pay for what they get, unless previously agreed upon something else being done. Like recently I paid for the whole meal as a celebration.
