i think this is the hot dog warmer that just has metal spikes on either side and essentially electrocutes the hot dogs

This thing zapped your hot dogs with electricity to cook them. From the few times I’ve seen it used on the internet, the hot dogs themselves tended to explode into mangled messes and it created a *lot* of smoke, but those could be side effects of higher modern voltage.
Still, boiling a hot dog takes like 10 minutes and frying them in a pan takes maybe 5. Those still seem like better options than whatever this is.

iirc this thing basically gave hotdogs the electrical chair by running a current through it, on average 1/6 of the dogs would detonate so you kinda hoped to get lucky

I have this contraption! My 80 year old neighbor gave it to me in the early 00, and my kids always called it the hotdogs electric chair. Hasn’t been used on a decade but I bet it’s still up tp the challenge.

I’m just going to assume the hotdogs had a weird metallic taste.

In the show Freaks and Geeks it takes place in 1980 and they go into a Sears and a salesman runs up to the mom like “would you be happy if hotdog dinner could be hot and ready in 30 seconds?!”
Then shows this new thing called a Microwave.

Mr Wizard did this with two forks in the hot dog connected to power! Immediately thought of that!
