    1. I swear it’s like nobody has ever seen a sci fi movie.

Aside from anything, this is a real live humans job – being taken by a machine. There will be an argument that the robot supports other jobs (software, maintenance, mechanical etc) but realistically how many of those jobs are in the local community this robot is there to support?

Farcical waste of resource and stifling of humanity.

    2. You have five seconds to comply.

      …Four… three… two… one…

I am now authorized to use physical force!

    3. You can buy it, from china, for quite cheap. They are just toys, not some kind of autonomous robots, they are scripted in most cases for basic things, they do have good self orientation models running on them, but those these days are easiest part to train

Melbourne police are crying out for being underpaid and understaffed – looks like we’re seeing the governments solution in real time lol

    5. What’s weird here is destruction of property carries a max 10 year imprisonment, while assault is 2 years max.

    6. Someone please crop that dude’s face. That’s the perfect, wtf face as he’s walking lol

    7. Notice how it is standing in one place, efficiently scanning for black people to beat.

      Technology man…

    8. Knowing Melbourne, the robot will se enazis and give them high five, then turn a flamethrower on the pro-palestine protestors

    9. Is that the prototype for Chappie ? ( South African movie about a robot police officer )

Can’t find anything corroborating this claim. The only reference to Melbourne police and robots I can find are the two new bomb robots they got in 2018.

      Serve the public trust
      Protect the innocent
      Uphold the law
Any attempt to arrest a senior officer of OCP results in shutdown

    12. Now I know why they spend all their time kicking them and training them to get back up. It’s because this is what people are going to do to them for fun when they get deployed in public.

Why are we making robots human shaped? A three-wheeled robot with a few arm attachments, 360 degree rotating taser, net launcher and maybe a laser or two would work way better.

    14. Are they feeling sad? Do they know what a tortoise is? Can they tell us about their mother?
