Little did the English fleet know that defeating the Spanish Armada stopped like half of Asia from being invaded by the Habsburgs

    1. I think you are a little bit off on the timing tho. Trafalgar gave The British domain over the Atlantic. The ambitions of the Hasburgs on East Asia were thwarted some 150 years earlier by the breakup of the Unified Crowns in 1640. Heck the Hasburgs themselves were a distant memory by the time the battle took place, the Burbons took over the place the Hasburgs left vacant from inbreeding to oblivion back in 1763 and the Battle of Trafalgar happened in 1805. Its like blaming my grandfather’s heart problems on yet to be born my grandson’s Viagra addiction. It does not compute.

    2. Defeating AKA a storm destroying most of the fleet and then launching a counter armada that is an even bigger disaster than the Spanish one

    3. I thought it was the Ottomans that saved Asia from conquistadors, forcing them to go the long way. Delayed colonialism in Asia by two centuries or more.
