Nah that yam juice on the cornbread was something I’ve never seen or thought of and I’ve been black my whole life

    1. Korean and Black culture is way more compatible than people realize. Japan and China are dope too but Ktown has a different connection with black folks.

That yam juice hit the cornbread like a gospel solo unexpected, soulful, and had me catching the spirit at the dinner table.

    3. Korea has spicy food, fried chicken, excellent music, unrealistic beauty standards, and a history of being hideously oppressed.

      I see some cultural compatibility…

I love the mom is just being very genuine about her reactions, and her dad is like oh no no I know what we’re doing here I’m gonna say bussin, I’m gonna say their food is the og, I’m gonna be giving you the YouTuber faces. We’re going viral if I have something to say about it.

    5. There was a place in SF in the Lower Haight, back in the late 90s, early 2000s. Korean place that also served soul food fusion dishes. I remember the lovely older couple that owned it, and Chef Rene, a charming big black man who was the chef. They had a plate called “meat mountain” that was just ridiculous. Sadly I don’t recall the name of the restaurant. So many happy dinners there.

    6. Oh man yall missing out my grandma made the best candied yams with the juice too 😮‍💨🙏🏾 my second favorite was the cornbread with buttermilk and sugar 🔥🔥🔥
