My elderly neighbor gave me this as a gift for taking out her garbage.

    1. There is a not negligible chance that it will kill you. But there is also a 70% chance that this was the good shit, that actually worked and still does.

    2. This is the good stuff. Methanol alcohol. Melts the bugs off and never freezes. Should still be good to use. Dump it on your washer fluid

    3. Pretty sure modern winter-mix washer fluid also contains high amounts of methanol. I don’t think this is too different from modern stuff

    4. I got a 20 foot ladder, a metal snow sled, a snow blower, and a wheelbarrow from my elderly neighbor who was moving into a retirement home. We had been friends for years, constantly exchanging tools etc.

    5. That’s that old school good juice , melts shit right off your windshield, can’t get that stuff anymore. I’d wear gloves while pouring it lol

    6. Great way to get rid of hazardous materials, give it away as a gift. I have a tube TV. Anyone want to do me a favor?

This is the same as washer fluid you’d buy today in the northern U.S.: methanol, water and a bit of soap.

For air quality reasons, methanol in washer fluid is banned in low-altitude parts of California and limited in other warm places–evaporated washer fluid is yet another hydrocarbon pollutant–but in cold places the formula is the same.

If it doesn’t get to -25F where you live, ignore the “use full strength” on the label and cut it with water.

    8. Mix it with Mt Dew and have a party!!!

Actually, please don’t do this. It should go without saying, but this being reddit and all….

This can probably be blended with water and still used. Method does not go bad and tge surfactants they used in the late 1970’s are probably still works.

    10. Chances are there isn’t much methanol left in this container. Methanol evaporates through plastic. But I bet that was the good stuff back in the day, like others have said.

    11. It qualifies for this sub. Nice gesture from your neighbor at a time when most folk don’t even speak to theirs
