This Philz Coffee was sick of people asking them for pumpkin spice lattes.

    1. That’s just ignorant business sense…. I see a demand but imma make a sign about it instead of buy some syrup at the Chef Store?

Part of running a food service establishment means serving things you may not personally like.

      What a dumb decision.

    3. This is what “the customer is always right” is supposed to be for. If you have so many customers asking for something you can provide so often you should just give them that thing. This is just bad business especially for a company owned by a private equity firm😆

    4. Reminds me of the dumb boring stupid coffee shops that don’t have any flavors.

“No we don’t have vanilla flavoring” as if I’m a martian for asking for it lol

    5. Here’s a mildly interesting anecdote from a mom n pop barista: not a lot of people are asking for pumpkin drinks these days. It’s all about matcha or dirty chai or cappuccino that aren’t cappuccino

    6. I suppose they wouldn’t be responsive to my pedantic argument that pumpkin spice does not and should not have any pumpkin flavor and is instead referring to the seasonings often used with pumpkin desserts

    7. lol they had this last year too and they’re still doing fine as a business afaik. if it works for them, then no need to change their operations. customers can just go elsewhere if they want a psl, there’s probably a starbucks right around the corner

    8. Their caramel banana brew for fall is delicious. I want more variety to fall drinks than just pumpkin spice!!

    9. Good for Philz. There are plenty of other coffee places that serve this seasonal garbage.

As someone with a pumpkin allergy, I would definitely frequent this place. I get tired of asking places if it’s real pumpkin in their drinks and such.

I mean, if you already have more customers than you know what to do with and throughput is your issue then a streamlined menu might make sense, or you could just charge more for a PSL and maybe hire more employees

I mean…as a business, they can choose what they do / what potential customers they might lose. I’m a plain coffee drinker…if i walk by, I wouldn’t mind trying their coffee assuming they have good coffee. (And especially if my only other choice close by is a Starbucks or something)…

Our local brewery has a pumpkin beer called Hard No. Owner didn’t want to make a pumpkin beer but got talked into it.

The sign probably cost more than a bottle of pumpkin spice except without the profit.

I’m guessing they have lots more requests given Starbucks shuttered so many of their locations. The Philz near me is swamped now that the Starbucks neighborhood store closed and next closes in city of SF is 0.7 miles away

    16. Imagine doing that instead of popping off to the supermarket for some cheap spices. Holy crap.

    17. US food bulk store, or any grocery store $6-9$ pick up a pumpkin spice syrup, or pumpkin spice whip cream. It’s basically free money after the first or second drink if they’re asking that often. What a weird hill to stand on.

I despise any pumpkin spice that’s not situated in a pie.

But you bet your ass that I would happily take money from those who want to but one.

Philz is a coffee shop for people who like the coffee part of coffee. They make a lot of money.
