Everyone who thinks “obamacare never worked” please google “risk corridor”
Obamacare DID work.
Republicans then won the house, removed the “risk corridor” which was a pool of money to split up in case any of the insurance companies happened to get a lot of old sick people. Once that got fucked up, insurance companies started leaving the exchange, or doing things like denying the same doctors the people had previously. etc.
They never, EVER had a better option, because they knew this is what would happen, or didn’t, but let the insurance companies “out” and then they could price gouge together. Which they do.

Remember that republicans in congress are still getting free healthcare while they keep the government shut down over the fact that they want YOU not to be able to afford healthcare. Free healthcare for republican congressmen, no healthcare for American citizens. Thats the republican party in action.

It’s only going to explode for the states that force the citizens to pay for the undocumenteds healthcare. It’s pretty straightforward

Even during Trump’s first term they didn’t have a replacement for the ACA. It was always “concepts” and “give us 2 weeks”. All these years later they still don’t have a replacement.

It drives me crazy how people refuse to see that they’re doing exactly what they want. What’s happening is exactly what they have wanted to have happen since 2009 (well, probably since LBJ). I think they’ve been mad about the middle class since the New Deal and are trying to find any way they can to create an even more lop-sided power imbalance, up to and including crashing the economy.

Number One cause of bankruptcy in the United States… Medical Debt.
Taking down ACA will only make that worse.
One example. We have a thriving midwife movement. Which I am NOT discouraging or slighting in anyway.
One of the reasons families are looking at Midwives? Avoiding hospitals. Trying to avoid huge medical bills. Years of crippling debt.
This says a great deal about priorities within the United States.

Are midwives in demand in the USA?
There are currently an estimated 44,400 midwives in the United States. The midwife job market is expected to grow by 5.2% between 2022 and 2032

it never seems to amaze me that all the business owners, large and mom-n-pop alike, are not on board with medical for all. Business owners would see their bottom line increase due to the health-care expense going away. so the question really comes down to why are they not on board? the only rational excuse is they, the business owners, are either ignorant or they see it as another means of control over the population. and i dont want to let the government off the hook either bc they could have pitched it in those simple terms but havent, both sides are complicate (bought and paid for by business)

Republicans need that money to pay for tax cuts for the rich.

Says Mike Johnson whose district, 4th Louisiana, is the poorest in the state, with low grades for health already. When you think he makes $220 000+, you realize how “Christian” he is. He won’t ever be able to make that kind of money as a lawyer in his own district.
