    1. I mean getting your whole military apparatus getting glassed, is not the outcome they expected, but on the other hand he singlehandedly controlled overnight 1/4 of the global oil supply, he should have expected a massive coalition.

    2. I don’t know if invading a rich oil microstate can be labeled as “strategic” in any sort of way.

This will not be another Vietnam, This will not be a protracted war *For Whom the Bell Tolls Starts playing*

Considering that he caused himself the bigger coalition since World War II i’d rather say that yeah, he made a huge strategic mistake.

Bush however did not make one deposing him since it’d shifted the balance of power in the region to Iran, so at the end Saddam Hussein should feel lucky that other leaders were not as stupid as him.

George Bush Sr was truly a geopolitical monster. So sad that his son was as shine as a turd.

But in his view what different was it from the Iran war the west was ok/supportive of?

    6. There’s no argument to have, Saddam lost everything and it let down a path to his execution a decade later.

Didn’t Saddam tried to Assassinate Bush Sr while in Iraq alongside his VP?

I guess it depends on the arguments presented by the person saying it wasn’t a strategic mistake.

I can’t see it right now, but I’m kind of curious to hear what it would be.
