This isn’t to dunk on the abbasid era scholars since everyone did this but I found it funny.
Combining most of the estimates given from abbasid era scholars from major battles ( there are a lot of semi major and minor battles were the Sassanids still somehow raise at least 50k amount of troops)
We get around 600~700k amount of soldiers deployed from 632~642 AD.
Although 500k of it is between 632~636 AD.
Their (sassanid) entire invasion force of the roman empire in 602 AD was 120k split into 3 armies of 40k btw. Recorded by contemporary Armenian, Byzantine sources like Sebeos.
This are the same guys who sent only 10k to stop Heraklius at Nineveh in 627 AD.
