May need some context. I get the meme, but I’m not sure most others will.

I thought it was about the assasination at first, like when you eat a Berliner it just kind of… splatters?
But it makes more sense if it’s the “Ich bin ein Berliner” quote :/

I didn’t realize a man calling himself a donut was so contentious here.

This is a historical misconception, that he called himself a jelly donut. His german was correct, the reason many don’t believe that, is because in some parts of germany Berliner, besides being the word for sombody from Berlin, is also the word for the cuisine in the picture (which is objectivly speaking the wong name. It’s called a Krapfen and I will die on this hill.)

As a mild joke, I find this funny, but I really start to hate how many people think that this is real and JFK accidentally called himself a doughnut.
In Berlin, Berliners are commonly called *Pfannnkuchen* (literally Pan cake). So no one in Berlin would associate “Berliner” with a doughnut.
Even outside of Berlin, no one would have thought that. For instance: There is a cookie called “Amerikaner” or a sausage called “Frankfurter”, but if someone said “Ich bin ein Amerikaner” or “Ich bin ein Frankfurter”, no one would think that this person is calling themselves a cookie or sausage.

I thought this was going to be an assassination joke because of the red jelly.
