A penny is $0.01. If you put that in a calculator and multiply it by 365 days in a year, you simply move the decimal place two spaces to the left of the 365. To make it easier to do, you can write it as 365.00. Those are the same number. So moving that decimal over two spaces means it would be 3.65.
It looks like he moved the decimal the wrong way. It wouldn’t matter if they would simply use a calculator. .01 X 365 =3.65.
