Wax and the natural darkening of the wood exposed to UV. And maybe there was an overcoat of lacquer in there, Wiping everything down with lacquer thinner will likely remove all the wax and most of the difference, But check it on a corner first to make sure it won’t fog the varnish. There are some odd floor varnished out there.
