Man what an ordeal…and the poor crab is pretty defenseless while “shedding his skin”

    2. Its cute, scary, and i dont know how i feel about the whole thing. Everything at the same time.

    3. It looks awfully painful and stressful like pulling out your entire body style while collapsing your lungs and internals to do this. I have cleaned and cooked crabs before and yeah, basically it’s exposing the entire gut system here to allow it to shed..

    4. What kind of crab is this. I swear I got pinched by one like that in Florida. Trying to capture it the arms rotated back like 45 degrees more than I anticipated.

    5. Are the pincers just cartilage at this point? Or would they be equally as painful as if the shell were still on?

    6. The crab half way out of the shell: “Dang… why does this kinda crap happen to the good crabs?”

    7. Imagine if we molted like that. Every now and then we would have to take like a week off work because we are so vulnerable. “Where’s Jim!” “Oh, he just molted so I’m taking his calls this week”

    8. Grabbing them at this stage and freezing them is how we get soft shell crab.

For a really long time I thought there was just a species of crab that was unfortunate enough to have soft shells.
