he was actually never supposed to become president of syria. If his brother didn’t die, he might have a normal medical career (and profiting of his family’s corruption like in all dictatorships of course)

his brother died in 94 so bashar became the butcher instead

    2. Too bad he wasn’t an orthopedic surgeon, so we could say ‘you gotta hand it to him…’

    3. His in laws lived around the corner from me.

Just going to work one day and there’s all these people protesting outside a nondescript semi-detached in Acton.

Reminds one of Ted Bundy working on the Suicide Hotline. His colleagues mentioned that he was particularly adept at talking people down.

I read an interview with him before the Arab spring, and he said he wanted to open country up to the world and increase internet access. So that didn’t happen.

“Man is like a beast of burden. If God rides him, he wills and goes where God will; if Satan rides him, he wills and goes where Satan will. Nor may he choose his rider.

    7. actually one of his professors said that his father forced him to be the leader of Syria after refusing so many times, his father was very feared and never anyone told him no, yet Bashar told him no but still he forced him somehow

I only know him because of his propaganda song so I guess it served it’s purpose. Clearly he’s syrias most memeable guy.

    9. Seeing as many Republican politicians – particularly Senators – are medical doctors, this kind of tracks.

I used to go to school with one of his child relatives. The youngin had this pair of massive bodyguards with him 24/7. Once saw them stop a moped that was about to hit him by getting in front of it and pushing it away. Strange kid but I guess that’s to be expected if you grow up in that family.
