    1. There is a level of irony, and not the funny kind, for the patent for a fire hydrant of all things to be lost in an office fire.

      You know what I just realized? It’s called a fire hydrant cuz it hydrates the fire.

      This is false. Frederick Gaff patented the first above-ground fire hydrant in 1801

      Fun fact: Gaff’s father apparently let Jefferson rent a room of his, where he then wrote the Declaration of Independence!
