I heard a theory that one of the Ottoman’s strength was its cosmopolitan nature brought on by the lack of an extensive noble class, which never really formed because of the brutal fratricide.

They later on stopped during the reign of Ahmed I, who was only a teenager when he became sultan, and only had a younger baby brother Mustafa, whose killing would’ve meant that in the event of Ahmed’s death w/o any kids, the Ottoman dynasty would be finished.
