The Shah Diamond, mined in the late 15th century and brought to the court of the Shah Burhān Nizām II in the late 16th century, Maharashtra, India [1698×2403]

The first inscription made on it reads:

"Burhān Nizām Shāh the Second. Year 1000"

A second inscription was made 50 years after Akbar's occupation; this new inscription was mandated by Akbar's grandson. It reads:

"Shāh Jahān, The son of Shāh Jehangir . Year 1051"
