Just noticed this in a Malaysian passport, pretty wild!

    1. Malaysia doesn’t recognise Israel and has no diplomatic, trade, or cultural relations with it.

Since independence, the country has consistently supported Palestine and voted against Israel in the UN.

That’s why Malaysian passports literally say “valid for all countries except Israel.”

Malaysians can only visit Israel under rare religious exceptions, and Israeli citizens aren’t allowed to enter Malaysia.

Malaysia has refused to recognize the state of Israel since its establishment in 1948, they have no diplomatic relations, and forbid their citizens from travelling to Israel

    3. As Malaysia does not recognize nor have diplomatic relations with the state of Israel, Malaysian passports bear the inscription: “This passport is valid for all countries except Israel”.

      Furthermore:

The passports of some countries are not valid for travel to Israel, including Bangladesh, Brunei, Iran, Iraq, and Pakistan. Thirteen countries do not accept Israeli passports: Algeria, Bangladesh, Brunei, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Yemen.

Doesn’t recognise Israel as a country but “all countries except…” Implies it **is** one

Same thing for Pakistan and Bangladesh and Libya ( Libya uses “occupied Palestine” instead of “israel” which doesn’t imply any recognition of their state by any means).

This thread does not bother to ask Malaysians for information. Many of them are on Reddit. Check out their sub for starters.

I’m sure Wikipedia is convenient _sigh_

I’ve never been to Israel, but don’t they offer slips of paper for entry/exit instead of passport stamps? I supposed if there is a gap in your stamps traveling through another country, your home country may question it on your return.

I have lived in Malaysia, Kuwait, Jordan, and Qatar, and Malaysia has the most Islamic fundamentalists of them all, so it doesn’t surprise me they wouldn’t recognize Israel

    9. Allegedly back in the 70s or 80s my mum’s UK passport used to say “Valid for all countries except South Africa”. She’s British Indian

    10. Good for them. Israeli society is one of the most rotten in the brain societies out there. Kids adults are all have a messed up mindset. (If you know, you’d know).
Anyone is better off not traveling there, there’s so many better places to go.

Hey guys, Malaysian here. To be clear, this is almost entirely because Malaysia and Palestine are both Islamic countries, hence Malaysia’s refusal to have diplomatic relations with the state of Israel.

To be clear, I do not support Israel either because of the whole genocide thing, but as a queer person that is directly affected by Islamic law, well, yeah.
