    1. The only way the Jews would have any chance is if they got Parthian support for the war. No matter how many victories they won, eventually the Roman machine would have always ground them down

    2. Honestly I’ve never understood that revolt. Afaik They couldn’t have chosen a worse point in history. They went face to face with the Roman Empire at their prime. Either they were idiots, or woefully under informed.

      The fact that a bunch of ragtag poor Middle Eastern Jews required the Roman Empire to send half its army to regain a small piece of territory was embarrassing for the Romans and an achievement for the Jews. There was no way the Jews were going to be able to hold off the Romans forever.

      After the fact Jewish sources were very critical of Bar Kochba, he isn’t celebrated like the Maccabees.
