It is sad that the name Adolf is somehow tainted forever.

And there have been dozens of notable warlords like Adolf Hitler in history, yet none of those get to be “banned”.

      Why?

Plot twist: the street was originally named after the other guy and the disclaimer was put up after the war.

    3. Its not unusual for additional infos from the people the street is named after in germany. Some of them have like 2 lines of text underneath the actual street sign.

For this case though its almost necessary lol

Joking aside, it’s not a disclaimer. Lots of streets in Germany, including mine, have little explanations like this about what they’re named after if it isn’t blindingly obvious (eg Berlinerstr)

    5. Not the only street. Many streets have these when they’re named after a historical person which is not commonly known.

By now Adolf is definitely a very rare name, but a street named like it isn’t THAT odd. Especially because it was Hitler’s first name, but street names either have the whole name “Name-Lastname-Straße” or “Lastnamestraße”. It’s not ambiguous.
