My wife was a former pharm tech at CVS and would call me on the drive home literally in tears for multiple days in a row. Retail is already hell and people getting stressed out over meds and taking it out on the wrong people don’t help at all.

I quit retail pharmacy and pharmacy overall shortly after graduation pharmacy school lol. Eff that noise. It’s not about healthcare anymore it’s just all about money.

Retail is a special kind of hell

not excusing it by any stretch, but i get it. the pharmacy is pretty uniquely a place where people are there because they’re suffering or ailing in some way, and the US healthcare system is pretty emphatically *not* working well for anyone at this point – not even the CEOs, frankly.
so i wouldn’t be even remotely surprised if the pharmacy is the place where people are the most stressed, the most financially devastated on a routine basis as they’re asked to pay hundreds of dollars for medicine they need, most frustrated by lack of availability or bureaucratic nonsense, etc… and… people just reach a breaking point.
i can’t even count the number of times i’ve seen people sobbing at the pharmacy.
again, doesn’t make it okay or excusable to be awful at the people on the other side of the counter. it’s not like they’ve made this hellscape. but i totally comprehend why the sign is there. it’s all the more tragic that i have to imagine a pharmacist had to go print that out because it’s all they could do about this overarching, overwhelming situation

My (dogs) vet has a similarly themed sign. Basically, “treat us like crap, and you can find a new vet”.
I’ve been taking our pets to that vet for 20 years. and they charge reasonable prices (even for surgery) because they haven’t sold out to private equity. Yes, that is a problem these days.
Let me tell you, one day I realized I was being a bit snippy to the staff (bad day), I was quick to apologize.

Signs like these are posted at literally at every healthcare facility now. People are brutal now, sadly.

The fact that this is even necessary is disheartening

I find it sad we need signs to tell people not to be dicks to staff anywhere

It’s absolutely disgusting that places have to put up signs like that because people have lost their damn minds. A couple of months ago I banned a couple of regulars from my restaurant. The called their server, “Fucking pathetic.” Nope, you’re not going to talk to my team that way. I don’t need your business that bad.

I saw a sign at the doctors office recently that physical or verbal abuse would not be tolerated.

Fortunately, emotional abuse is a-ok!
