One of the better movies based on Alistair MacLean’s thrillers — probably because he wrote the screenplay for it!

    2. Loved this movie as a kid. I was 10 years old when I saw it. I need to watch it again now that I’m 65.

    3. Finished the book last week and watched the movie thereafter for the thousandth time! So good. Top five WWII film for me.

Ingrid Pitt later became a bit infamous for her less than stellar performance in the Doctor Who story Warriors of the Deep. The story is terrible on its own but her acting is off to put it mildly, and she improvised trying to kick-box a sea creature, leading to her character’s death and it looked so unbelievably bad.

Apparently, despite this, she had such a good time on the show that she wrote a serial that was intended for the cancelled season 23 but ultimately went unproduced, The Macros. It later got made into an audio story.

    6. 9 year old me loved this film. Wonder what current me will think. I bet still awesome. This classic stuff should be shown more often on the streamers.

    7. My favorite “guys on a mission” movie. It’s completely silly and entertaining. There’s not an ounce of fat in it, it starts fast and stays fast. The whole thing was shot on location in the Alps and looks incredible. Special credit to Derren Nesbitt as the Gestapo major, he’s chewing the scenery with great gusto.

I love all things sixties. But lately I can’t help notice they’d fuck people’s hair up with god-only-knows what kind of hair products. Women’s hair just looked like it’s been sprayed to death with Agent Orange or some shit.

    9. This may be a dumb suggestion, but can’t we just make an alternative sub called OldSchoolBoobs for all of these posts that confuse “Cool” and “Cleavage”? 🤷
