Ghandi: “No wife of mine will take British medicine!”
*Wife dies*

Just FYI the niece wasn’t forced and was not naked. By her own accounts. It was a stupid celibacy test of his design.
P.S – Also hindu nationalists can go eat dingbats.

Can’t say about the rest, but wasn’t he a racist when he worked in South Africa and later in life stopped being one once he started his activism?

He was a product of his time and culture and ahead too in so many ways. Lincoln didn’t think Blacks should take a higher position in Government along with Whites or they should go to Africa. Largely did not care for Women political rights.
Similarly, Gandhi was against untouchability and coined the term Harijans but never really accepted lower caste people as equal and believed in caste system reform, rather than abolish. and did some weird shit with Women.
But what i like about these Men are their ideals and commitment to change, ahead of their time.
Truth, Non-violent way to freedom at those times were unpopular, and his willingness to stick to it. Same with Lincoln.
That’s what we should remember about them.
Yes, these Men had serious flaws and I don’t mind posts like this, as people need to know their darker side as well, Prevents Hero Worship. Not everything they said was true.
But maybe think, there’s a reason these men are held in such high regard. And Learn about their Good parts and follow them.
