This was the reply’s to a dude making an observation on a simulation of the south towers collapse for context. There was like 27 other stupid reply’s but I forgot to screenshot them.

    1. It’s amazing how much this stuff persists all these years later haha. I joined Reddit forever ago to talk about conspiracy theories from a skeptical point of view. Nothing’s changed. If anything, it’s gotten worse.

It’s insane that these conspiracy theories have taken such a hold.
I’m beginning to think that social media/ everyone having a bull horn, may not be working out too well for us as a species /s

    3. A small fire? A whole goddamn plane crashed into both towers and that’s considered a small fire?

    4. They’re right, jet fuel doesn’t melt steel beams. More than just fuel hit those beams.

Architecture?? I think he means engineering. Architects don’t know failure mechanisms

A lot of people don’t even know what “911” is about. Or that it even happened.
      Short historical memory.

    7. “How does a small fire bring down a skyscraper?”

      Surprisingly easy.

Sure cobstraunsion materials are sturdy. But having to keep a massive structure up puts them under constant enormous stress. Which also sometimes fluctuates depending on which sude the wind is blowing.

So the main job of an architect is to be able to calculate this load and make sure that even under bad conditions the load does not exceed the integrity of material.

A “small fire” changed the properties of some of the materials. Meaning they now couldn’t withstand the same load. Luckily – most the compromises materials were pretty high up and not experiencing the full load – only of the floors above them. Unluckily – some of those compromised materials were cables that are going all the way through the height of the building trying to ballance the load between compression and tension. So some of those cables that actually experienced the full load now exceeded their limit. They snapped.

That encreased the compression load on the concrete foundation at the very bottom of the building. And concrete failing due to massive compression goes look like as explosion.

      Is that good enough explanation?

Sorry if some technical terms are used incorrectly – I am not a professional architect or engineer. And trying to explain it in layman’s terms.

    8. Every comment section on any 9/11 post on social media is loaded with smooth brain conspiracy nuts

    9. It’s even worse on TikTok. I just saw a 911 video where the whole comment section was people saying ”Israel did 911” or ”the jews did 911”…

Jet fuel doesn’t need to melt steel. it burns hot enough to weaken it (the temperature at which steel becomes malleable is much lower than its melting point). Weight and gravity then do the rest

This in my opinion is what happens when you combine a failing education system with the powers of the Internet. People love to feel smarter than others, especially when they never really were smarter than others. The most they can have is what they think is knowledge about conspiracy theories that others don’t. So they really latch on to that feeling of superiority.

I love conspiracy theories, mostly to consider both sides and find the truth. Because most hold no weight once they are scrutinized. The whole point is to distract you from the real conspiracies, and to discredit anyone who suggests any conspiracy theory because most of them are crazy, they are instantly dismissed as yet another crazy tinfoil hat theory.

And what most likely is the truth is that the real conspiracies out there run so deep and are so well guarded that no one outside those involved know about it.

    12. Sorry Americans but denying the truth (why?) proves you’re never coming out of fascism

    13. Professional_Echo907 on

Fun fact, most of the 9/11 conspiracy dipshits later became birther dipshits and are now antivax fascist MAGA dipshits.

    14. fodmap_victim on

And this is why America is in the mess it’s in right now. THIS is the voter pool

    15. I mean, the alternative is that the building was stuffed full of explosives. Fine, I’ll play along with that.

Then why the hell didn’t a plane practically severing the building on impact set them all off immediately? How on earth does that make more sense?
