My dad is a good man, but, my God, he is a miser. We grew up always having what we needed, for which I’m grateful, but never a single thing more than that.
I always said I wouldn’t be like that, that money can bring joy and comfort beyond necessity. Now I’m an adult with a really good career and I spend fairly freely, although not excessively. If I care about someone I’ll buy them gifts or take them out, romantic or otherwise. There’s nothing sexualised about it for me, I just like doing things for people that bring some level of joy.
I’m gonna give me everything I ask for and then some. Because I deserve that shit.

The reason people feel inclined to say stuff like this is because it’s shocking when you meet someone these days who’s so giving … it’s a rarity because people have been abusing it so long and it’s sad that the world is going this way.
