Rome didn’t have the Internet, fast food, or vampire yaoi manga, so how could it be the greatest civilization?

In 1066 a French guy of Viking origin took over England and French became the official language of the nobility for the next 350 plus years. That’s why there is a lot of latin in English.

Actually there are more latin words in english than germanic ones.

To be extremely pedantic. The English Alphabet is slightly different to the Latin Alphabet. The Latin alphabet doesn’t have miniscule and is missing the letters: J, U and W.
English has a lot of vocabulary from Romance languages because of William the Conqueror made French the language of the courts during his short lived dynasty and the English kingdoms that followed kept it around for diplomacy and to better antagonize the French.
They both use the Roman alphabet because other than Futhark they didn’t have one so they stole it.
Rome was a bunch of led drinking psychopaths who murdered anyone who got in their way.
Their art and philosophy were derivative and inferior to the Greeks.
Their religion was so pathetic that even the Romans themselves made fun of it and quickly adopted every new religion that came along.
Their science EVENTUALLY outdid the Greeks but only because they had absorbed all of Greece, and Egypt, and then spent centuries building on it. Their own accomplishments were really minor by comparison.
Modern civilizations have done away with legal slavery, and advanced science and technology to levels the Romans could never have imagined.
I get to live in America, eat Chinese food, enjoy British humor, Believe in a God who was born in Israel, with a Church centered in Rome.
I’m poor but I have a car and a computer.
Rome sucked.
Honestly we could bring some runes back they make far more phonetic sense.
