Clinton had the government shutdown for 26 days.

Obama had the government shutdown for 16 days.

And you know who had the longest government shutdown? Themost bigly, better than anyone, way longer than Obama. Holding the title for longest shutdown in U.S. history at 35 days is Trump. Imagine that.

Most agencies were not closed for that length of time. I was off 1 day in 2018. Regardless, it sucks- it’s exhausting.

      The last three government shutdowns:

      2018-2019 (President Donald Trump): December 22, 2018 to January 25, 2019 – 34 days

      2018 (President Donald Trump): January 20 to January 23 – 3 days

      2018 (President Donald Trump): February 9 – 1 day.

They argue in bad faith, that’s the main issue, that’s why it’s impossible to talk with them like rational people.

Google is free. Just look it up. Only 1 holds the title for longest shutdown and it isn’t a democrat

Can someone please explain why who was president matters? This is a congressional stalemate, and in the legislature, not executive branch. I’m not an USian, but it was my understanding that they were independent of the executive, and were the ones responsible for passing legislation that the president would either sign into law or veto. So who was president only matters if the signature was not forthcoming, not on whether the legislature did their job.

Am I wrong, or has the USA’s system of government been misrepresented?

Just pointing out, there were 2 government shut downs in 2018. 1 in January, one in December leading into January 2019.

So 2 of the last 3 shutdowns occurred under Trump/Republicans

    7. Republicans always lose the battle of perception, when the government shuts down.

This time Republicans are in complete control , and they’re shutting down.

I call BS on the Trump shutdown that was cited for 2018-19. It says it was shut down over funding for the border wall? We know that to not be true, because Mexico paid for the wall. And Mexico can’t shut down our government. So, it’s just not true.

(How I imagine the thoughts in the right-wing brain.)

Just want to remind MAGA that Google is free, and if your claim can be disproved with five seconds of Googling, maybe just don’t be this confident about it…

    10. Clinton and Obama had Republicans in control of the House and 2 out of 3 times the Senate. ALL of Trump’s shutdowns will be with Republicans in control of both. This will be his third shutdown, having said on record before being elected the first time, a shutdown is a failure of the President.

I feel like a broken record saying if they didn’t have whataboutisms and false equivalencies they wouldn’t have a single thing to say.

Love the ad paired with his post. Big divorced dad energy. I’m thinking backcapping. I’m thinking mirrored shades. I’m thinking punisher tat

    13. Quoting google AI to prove anything is equally a facepalm btw. That things hallucinates more than GPT did in its early stages. Republicans are still morons but get an actual source.

The president isn’t the goverment. 🙄

Conservatives are endlessly, embarrassingly and gleefully stupid and dishonest.

Since they’re avoiding facts here let’s give them an undeniable fact. 10 of the last 11 recessions were under Republican presidents.

    16. ill be honest, i don’t think the guy in the original post was saying any shutdown was longer, if he did then i spoke to soon.

    17. Republicans control every damn aspect of the government but of course, it’s got to be the Dems fault.

      This is the bad place.
