After Hegseth drones on for 40 minutes in a speech to US Generals, he’s met with thunderous… silence

    1. My favourite part was when he said we’re going to restore the military by going back to denying climate change 🫠

    2. I can’t imagine career military officers reacting positively to being lectured by a news caster obsessed with his appearance.

Somebody wanted to complain to the manager of the military about the service he got, but then he remembered that was him.

    4. top brass knows they cant endorse political policy decisions, especially publicly. their role is to execute the orders they’re given within the bounds of the law. and they surely were aware that cheering on something like this could cause about half the country to loose trust and faith in the military for more than a generation

Did they at least had out certificates that said “I flew halfway around the world to attend a meeting that could have been an email”?

    6. These are seasoned generals, and this guy is an alcoholic former fox news host. I guarantee 90% of those in attendance are thinking “we can’t wait till you move along to your next thing”

    7. Because he had affairs at levels that make service members embarrassed, got flagged as an insider threat by a fellow guardsman in 2021 and quit in 2024. The paperwork probably went across the table of someone in attendance, so they are well aware of the sack of shit standing Infront of them.

Just you wait. [Under Stalin, everyone had to applaud. If you were the first one to stop applauding, it would be the GULAG for you and your family. So you had these rapturously nervous 10 min applause sessions where no one wanted to stop.](https://historyinsights.com/11-minute-applause/#:~:text=After%20Joseph%20Stalin%20gave%20his%20speech%20at%20a,of%20who%20could%20stand%20and%20clap%20the%20fastest) We used to make fun of shit like this in America, now it will become common practice.

    9. I got to say this went much better then my expectations. Surely producing all of the high brass was a sign of something nefarious to come. But instead, it turned into some weird performative thing, where the highlight appears to be no fat generals.

    10. Generals understand history and know not to applause for illegal orders or the prelude to such.

    11. Silence is normal from a crowd like this. Worst case scenario would’ve been cheers so thank god that didn’t happen.

    12. Turns out, a bunch of military brass do not want to hear from a second tier Fox News weekend host who doesn’t wash his hands.

Although I’m glad to see that Trump’s attempted “Russification” of the US Military is a massive failure so far.

So…is there anything all these hardass generals will do about being so openly threatened or will they continue to take it up the arse?
