Lol, imagine the brainstorm session where they were like ‘You know what’d really sell cars? Telling people they’re basically walking storage units.’ 😂 Marketing genius, or fail of the century?

I think about this commercial every time I’m stuck in traffic

Nice artsy commercial. I still like football to the groin more though.

It’s funny beacause they’re greatly overestimating the typical number of people per car, and it still looks terrible.
It’s an equation of space, speed and time (and cost, risk, pollution, weather, etc). This only shows one factor.

Love the shot with the white/red flashlights

Rent for a shitty 2br apartment in the city: $2500/month.
Rent for a brand new 3br apartment in the burbs: $1500/month.
Fix that, and less people will be commuting in.

I picture OP standing up and pointing at the screen like “So you ADMIT that cars are physically large!”

Everyone loves public transport until it’s time to take an ailing family member to the hospital in an emergency or pick up things/people after 10pm when buses don’t run.
A car is EMPOWERING. It allows people to ride in modest luxury instead of squeezing into a sardine can. You can choose to randomly go to another town on a whim and a few dollars (cheaper if you’re electric)
These ridiculous memes by people villainizing other peoples lifestyles is just asinine to me.

Look at how much personal space everyone has. No smelly stinky random people rubbing against you. Your stuff and groceries are safe in the trunk. AC full blast and youre comfy as hell. You get from point A to point B in fraction of time, basically the same time it would take you to wait at the bus stop, not to mention the ride itself.
If I ever needed a commercial to buy the car, this would be it.

Maybe, but I’d rather be alone in my car than crammed together with strangers on a bus

I don’t see any inefficiency. It’s inefficient to travel like 100m with your car with average speed of 5km/h. But it’s not how most cars are used. Damn it, constant complaining about how bad and evil cars are is so stupid.
There are a lot of places where living without cars would be crazily inconvenient, difficult or even straight impossible. Cars are awesome. And you wouldn’t use the space the streets take better.
People have such stupid thoughts when they are bored with no challenges in their lives.

Public transport takes 2 hours for me to get to work and I will still be one hour late.

2003 Saturn really said plot twist empathy sells cars and honestly it kinda worked.

Reminded me of this
Fuckin Saturn was still making cars in 2003? Don’t see to many of those things on the road still
Like the planet?
If everyone was at least this far apart I would consider walking
Wait this was made to sell cars ? I don’t think this went very well lol
Not sure why I expected a Sega Saturn to appear….
I always wanted to see a parody of this with police chases and a fat guy mowing through a crowd at an intersection.
When you said Saturn, I wasn’t picturing a car manufacturer

Speed is accurate in today’s city traffic.
And then GM killed them for it.
I’m not walking 65km twice a day.

I feel like the effect lands less post covid.
I like this image illustrating it:
