1985.. Today is the final day of AOL Dialup service.

    1. Was AOL the last dial-up provider in the world? I have to imagine that there’s still some underdeveloped area still using dial-up internet out there.

    2. It was not only AOL, every other provider had the same sound because we had only dial up modems back then. I miss those days sometimes.

    3. If any of you read the manual you would have learned that you could edit the dial settings from ATDT to ATM0DT and muted the modem. Mom would never know you’re online besides the keys clicking and you talking to yourself.

    4. This is seared into my memory perfectly. Others around my age will try to mimic the old dial-up noises but they’re never close lol. I can hear this clearer than the old Domino’s phone number dial chirps

    5. That feeling when mom picks up the phone while you’re connected or when dad complains he’s been trying to call home all day but it’s been busy.
