Just crossed my mind

    1. I shudder at the thought of cold onion rings, like french fries are already bad cold, bur onion rings

    2. They taste better when they’re warm and fresh, making them inconvenient to sell as a snack food that you can just grab of a shelf. But you do have have chip (fries) shops where you can buy just a bag of chips (fries).

    3. They are moist. Without unholy amount of preservatives they will spoil rotten too quick to be considered safe to sell

    4. In germany we have both. Zwiebel ringe (onion rings) and frit sticks. Although the last one is debatable

    5. They have- but in order to make them shelf life stable, the former just tastes like straw shaped potato chips and the latter is Funyuns.

    6. Fries are supposed to be nice and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. If you cook a perfect fry and bag it, the moisture will start moving to the crust resulting in soggy fries.
